CherryAid campaigns to unite all Cherry Lovers – chefs, Cherry growers, producers of Cherry-based food and drink, you, me – to save the British Cherry.
In the last 50 years we’ve lost 90% of our Cherry orchards and now import around 95% of the Cherries we eat. FoodLoversBritain.com has come to the rescue with CherryAid to help them out of a jam!
As FoodLovers runs a small team we're looking for a keen, enthusiastic Food Lover to get involved with CherryAid. Ideally, our candidate will have some experience of running a campaign, fundraising and marketing. If you think this describes you then email office@foodloversbritain.com or call us on 020 8969 0083.

Lord’s, the ‘Home of Cricket’ - and one of the world’s most iconic sports grounds - has joined forces with CherryAid over the cricket season - incorporating the fruits into fine dining menus, buffets and the Ground’s renowned afternoon tea.
Fans of the game will already recognise that a cherry is the name given to a new ball and the CherryAid campaign will ally cherries to its quintessential English reputation. The Ground also boasts a progressive sustainability policy focusing on using local suppliers - wholly in keeping with the FoodLovers philosophy.
Cricket has been played for close to 200 years at Lord’s, which is owned by the Marylebone Cricket Club. Ultra-modern facilities such as the Media Centre and Nursery Pavilion sit alongside the historic Grade*II listed Pavilion and real tennis courts.
Lord’s hosts over 70 days of cricket every summer as well as being centre stage for private and corporate events. The Ground welcomes a cosmopolitan crowd throughout the year, offering an unrivalled dining experience at matches, meetings and functions.
All suppliers to Lord’s are chosen for their CSR credentials, and where possible, the mileage in the supply chain is kept to a minimum. Menus are scrupulously researched by head chef Stephen Smith in order to benefit local fisheries and farms and include field fresh vegetables and fruits delivered daily.
Lord’s famous afternoon tea includes fresh pastries from in-house pastry chef Thierry Besselievre. The service is a favourite with players and MCC Members alike and was recently acclaimed by Chris Evans on his BBC Radio 2 breakfast show.
Henrietta says, “The synergy between CherryAid and Lord’s is fantastic and I am looking forward to raising the awareness of British cherries throughout summer 2010 and beyond”.
